Sharing meriSTEM@NIE’s Three Centricities of STEM Integration in Wuhan, China (14 & 15 March 2024)
Co-Chair of meriSTEM@NIE, A/P Teo Tang Wee, shared knowledge about STEM curriculum integration with School Leaders in the Han Kou School District of Wuhan, China, on 14 March 2024. The ideas were also shared with undergraduates of Central China Normal University students on 15 March 2024. STEM education is a relatively new concept in China and educators are interested to learn more about integrated STEM teaching, learning and assessment as they are being tasked to allocate about 10% of the curriculum time to teaching integrated STEM lessons. A/P Teo shared meriSTEM@NIE’s three centricities of STEM integration that differs from disciplinary-centric STEM. Examples of problem-, solution-, and user-centric STEM curricula were shared to provide more concrete ideas on how to design and enact integrated STEM lessons that specifically address the three different domains of 21st-century knowledge.
