meriSTEM@NIE Talk Series

Join us for a thought-provoking session on Epistemic Norms in STEM Education, part of the meriSTEM@NIE Talk Series. Led by Dr. Jina Chang, this talk examines how key epistemic norms—problem definition, solution generation, and iterative development—can guide students through complex STEM problem-solving. Drawing on classroom data from Grade 9 STEM lessons in Singapore, the session highlights six core values that support effective and meaningful engagement in STEM: usefulness, creativity, iteration, accessibility, concreteness, and feasibility. This talk offers practical insights for educators looking to manage the dynamic nature of STEM learning.
